Arborist is a native macOS command center for developers working across Git repositories and worktrees. From one window, developers can create and remove worktrees, run repository-specific commands, open editors and terminals in the selected checkout, and return to Codex and Claude Code conversations associated with that worktree. Arborist uses the developer’s normal shell environment and offers control over whether existing tool windows close when switching contexts. It requires macOS 15 or later and includes a 14-day trial, followed by a $39 USD license for version 1 and all its updates, plus applicable taxes.

Git worktrees let developers work on several branches at once, but keeping the surrounding tools organized takes additional effort. Editors, terminals, and AI conversations can remain open long after a developer has moved on to another task. Arborist brings those work contexts into one Mac app.
Developers can import a repository and its worktrees, create new worktrees, and open tools in the selected working directory. Repository-specific commands are available across that repository’s worktrees and execute using the developer’s shell environment. Arborist can optionally close existing tool windows before opening the selected worktree.
Arborist associates Codex and Claude Code conversations with the worktrees where they occurred. Developers can review the chat history for a worktree and reopen a previous conversation. Conversation discovery happens locally on the Mac.
Arborist is built by Jared Sorge, an independent Apple-platform developer in the Seattle area. It is distributed directly through Taphouse Software with a 14-day free trial and a $39 USD license covering version 1 and all its updates.
